Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Driving practical bulbs at high ISO settings forces dimmers down into their bottom 10% operating threshold where PWM switching is coarsest. High ISO amplification also boosts subtle luminance noise, making faint background flicker much more noticeable.

Actionable Fix:
1. Lower camera base ISO to native (e.g. ISO 800 or 100) and increase practical bulb brightness to its clean 80-100% operating range.
2. Use lower-wattage bulbs or heat-resistant neutral density bulb wraps to reduce light output physically without electronic dimming.
3. Inspect the practical bulb on an RGB waveform monitor; verify a flat, stable luminance line with zero cyclical dip.

Pro Tip:
Avoid dimming incandescent or LED bulbs electronically below 20%; swap to a lower-wattage bulb to operate in the fixture's sweet spot.
