Symbols and punctuation are so small that they disappear while changing the intended phrase.

Problem

Symbols and punctuation are so small that they disappear while changing the intended phrase.

Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Standard typographical punctuation marks (commas, question marks, quotation marks, exclamation points) are naturally scaled to sentence body text proportions. When transferred to thumbnail headlines, these small symbols shrink below the resolving power of mobile screens. Omitting or losing a question mark or dollar sign completely alters the narrative premise.

Actionable Fix:
1. Manually scale all critical punctuation marks, question marks, and currency symbols up to 130%–150% of the accompanying text size.
2. Increase the stroke weight of punctuation marks independently to prevent them from dropping out during downsampling.
3. Check downscaled rendering at 100px width to ensure punctuation remains unmistakable and visually anchored.

Pro Tip:
Enlarge question marks into prominent graphic storytelling elements; a bold, oversized '?' can generate more curiosity than three extra words.
