Camera clips are tagged with incorrect reel names, making conform and relink operations unreliable.
Solution
Root Cause / Diagnostic:
When multi-camera footage is ingested without standardized reel naming metadata (Reel Name / Tape Name), NLEs fall back to default clip names or leave reel metadata blank. During subsequent project conform, proxy switching, or round-tripping to color grading software (DaVinci Resolve), the conform engine cannot uniquely identify source media. The NLE relinks clips to the wrong camera reels or fails to conform cuts entirely.
Actionable Fix:
1. In the NLE Project Bin / Media Pool, select all clips from Camera A, open Clip Attributes / Metadata, and assign an explicit Reel Name (e.g., 'CAM_A_REEL_01').
2. In DaVinci Resolve Project Settings -> General Options, configure 'Assist using reel names from the: Source clip file pathname' to automatically parse reel identifiers from folder names.
3. Test an XML / EDL roundtrip to confirm that all timeline cuts conform accurately to their designated camera reel masters.
