Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Light-wrap plugins generate synthetic edge glow by convolving the background plate over the foreground matte's interior perimeter. If the composite wraps light uniformly around the entire silhouette without respecting the 3D directionality, color temperature, and luminance of actual scene practical lights, the subject appears surrounded by an unnatural radioactive halo. This immediately uncouples the keyed foreground from its environment.

Actionable Fix:
1. Mask the light-wrap effect so it is applied exclusively to the edges facing the scene's primary illumination source (e.g., wrap light only onto the left shoulder if the key light is on the left).
2. Sample the background plate's actual light source color and blur it heavily (50-100px) before using it as the light-wrap donor layer, keeping wrap blend mode set to 'Screen' or 'Soft Light'.
3. Verify on a waveform monitor that light-wrap luminance on the foreground rim does not exceed the peak luminance of the background light source.

Pro Tip:
Multiply background luminance by a blurred inverted matte of the foreground subject to create realistic ambient wrap that dims organically where deep shadows occur.
