Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Rotoscoping algorithms and manual bezier splines calculate binary or semi-soft boundaries based on visible object edges. When high-velocity movement produces motion blur, the subject's physical boundary dissolves into semi-transparent streaked pixels where foreground and background luminance blend. Hard rotoscoping curves slice through these semi-transparent fringes, cutting off motion tails and producing an unnatural strobing edge that flickers violently on playback.

Actionable Fix:
1. Draw the rotoscoping matte strictly around the solid, non-blurred core of the subject, and activate native motion blur simulation on the matte layer.
2. In Roto Brush, enable 'Refine Edge' specifically along motion-blurred contours and configure 'Edge Detection' radius between 10px and 25px.
3. Composite the extracted subject over high-contrast solid backgrounds (black, white, 50% gray) to verify that motion blur tails blend smoothly without edge fringe or clipping.

Pro Tip:
Shoot high-action rotoscope footage at a 90-degree shutter angle (1/96s or 1/100s) to produce sharper edges for clean keying, then reintroduce synthetic motion blur in post via optical flow plugins.
