Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Static screenshots and compressed JPEG images already contain 8x8 block compression boundaries and high-frequency ringing artifacts around text edges. When an editor scales these assets up on a video timeline and applies global timeline sharpening, the sharpening algorithm detects the compression artifacts as valid image edges. This amplifies the noise into high-contrast halos, pixelated text, and buzzing visual edges.
Actionable Fix:
1. Capture all software screenshots and graphic assets in lossless PNG format at native 2x or 3x retina resolution rather than compressed JPEG.
2. Exclude graphic tracks from global sharpening adjustment layers by placing adjustment layers strictly below graphics tracks (e.g., on V2 beneath V3 graphics).
3. If low-resolution JPEGs must be used, apply a 0.5-pixel Gaussian blur specifically to graphic edges before scaling to smooth out macro-block boundaries.
