Looping a short 1 to 2-second snippet of room tone creates an unnatural periodic rhythm as subtle background clicks, distant sirens, or ventilation cycles repeat at fixed intervals. The human brain is extraordinarily sensitive to repetitive acoustic patterns; within three cycles, the listener begins tracking the loop rhythm rather than focusing on narration. This repetitive acoustic artifact shatters scene realism.

Actionable Fix:
1. Capture or assemble a non-repetitive room tone bed of at least 15 to 30 seconds duration before looping across an extended scene.
2. If only short room tone is available, randomize the loop by crossfading alternating forward and reversed segments (without transient clicks) and staggering loop points across multiple tracks.
3. Check the finished ambient bed by listening to a 60-second stretch with dialogue muted, ensuring no discernible cadence or acoustic cycle emerges.

Pro Tip:
Layer two asynchronous room tone loops of different lengths (e.g., an 11-second bed on Track 1 and a 17-second bed on Track 2); their mathematical phase offset will create natural, non-repeating acoustic variation.
