Consumer cameras entering power-saving modes, battery sleep states, or fluctuating HDMI voltage levels break the High-Definition Content Protection (HDCP) and EDID handshake. Once this digital communication link drops, many capture cards fail to automatically renegotiate the connection without an explicit driver reset. Consequently, the OBS video capture source remains black even after the camera is fully powered back on.
