Former staff retain access to shared Google groups that can expose channel-related information.

Problem

Former staff retain access to shared Google groups that can expose channel-related information.

Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Shared Google Groups often receive security alerts, content updates, or access recovery notices. When departing personnel are removed from primary accounts but left in distribution groups, proprietary analytics, security codes, and channel alerts continue to leak externally.

Actionable Fix:
1. Audit all Google Groups associated with the YouTube channel via Google Admin Console (Groups > Members) and purge all inactive or departed personnel immediately.
2. Restrict group visibility and membership management permissions strictly to verified Super Admins to prevent unapproved self-addition.
3. Configure Group Settings to block message delivery to external domain recipients and disable public archive viewing.

Pro Tip:
Implement dynamic group membership rules in Google Workspace based on active organizational unit (OU) status to automatically purge departing staff from distribution lists.
