Payment or monetization account changes are accepted without dual approval.

Problem

Payment or monetization account changes are accepted without dual approval.

Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Permitting payment, AdSense, or banking account modifications to proceed without dual-custody approval creates severe financial vulnerability to business email compromise (BEC) and insider threats. Cybercriminals routinely compromise channel manager accounts and silently swap the linked AdSense publisher ID or direct deposit bank details to divert monthly revenue payouts. Lacking secondary authorization controls allows tens of thousands of dollars in creator revenue to be stolen before detection.

Actionable Fix:
1. Implement mandatory Dual-Custody Approval protocols for any modification to YouTube AdSense links, bank account routing numbers, or tax information.
2. Configure Google AdSense payment alerts to dispatch instant notifications to both the channel owner and financial controller whenever payment details are altered.
3. Enforce a mandatory 72-hour operational cooling-off hold on all banking changes before the new payment profile can receive outgoing disbursement funds.

Pro Tip:
Establish out-of-band verbal authorization via verified phone call for every banking or AdSense modification, explicitly prohibiting electronic chat or email confirmations for wire instructions.
