Recovery email belongs to a former employee or contractor and was never updated.

Problem

Recovery email belongs to a former employee or contractor and was never updated.

Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
During early channel formation, recovery settings are often hastily configured using an early employee's, co-founder's, or contractor's personal email address. When that individual departs, they retain the unilateral capability to initiate password resets and seize the channel via Google's automated account recovery portal.

Actionable Fix:
1. Immediate Recovery Email Deletion: Open Google Account Security, enter the recovery email configuration, and remove the former contractor's address immediately.
2. Assign Dedicated Executive Recovery Address: Input an executive-controlled, organizational recovery address secured by corporate governance protocols.
3. Verification Handshake: Complete the verification code challenge on the new corporate inbox and confirm the legacy email is completely expunged from the account profile.

Pro Tip:
Check who actually owns your recovery email. If it belongs to an old business partner or former editor who left two years ago, they can click 'Forgot Password' and lock you out of your channel at any moment.
