Ownership changes are made without confirming that the receiving account has strong recovery controls.

Problem

Ownership changes are made without confirming that the receiving account has strong recovery controls.

Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Transferring channel ownership to a new or secondary Google account that lacks robust recovery email, recovery phone, and two-factor authentication creates an immediate high-risk vulnerability. Attackers monitoring the channel can easily compromise the weakly defended receiving account and seize total channel ownership.

Actionable Fix:
1. Pre-Transfer Account Hardening: Audit the destination Google account and mandate hardware-backed 2FA (FIDO2), a dedicated secure recovery email, and carrier-locked phone recovery before initiating transfer.
2. Recovery Control Verification: Test the recovery pathways on the receiving account to ensure prompt and reliable password recovery.
3. Ownership Handshake Completion: Execute the ownership transfer only after the destination account passes an end-to-end security posture evaluation.

Pro Tip:
Never transfer channel ownership to a fresh Gmail account that doesn't have 2FA and recovery options fully set up. A bare Google account is ridiculously easy for hackers to crack.
