High Dynamic Range (HDR) video streams (HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision) require explicit static and dynamic metadata—such as MaxFALL (Maximum Frame Average Light Level), MaxCLL (Maximum Content Light Level), color primaries, and mastering monitor peak nits. Omitting this metadata causes modern playback systems and encoders to tone-map incorrectly, resulting in clipped highlights or washed-out imagery.

Actionable Fix:
1. Technical Metadata Sheet Archival: Document exact mastering parameters (e.g., ST 2084 PQ curve, Rec.2020 primaries, 1,000 nits mastering monitor, MaxCLL/MaxFALL values) in a standardized JSON/PDF delivery sheet.
2. Sidecar XML & Container Metadata Injection: Ensure exported HDR masters contain embedded VUI (Video Usability Information) SEI messaging and retain Dolby Vision XML metadata sidecar files.
