Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Microphone preamps, HVAC systems, and room acoustics generate a baseline ambient noise floor. In long videos, this noise floor remains steady; however, cutting aggressively between sentences without crossfades cuts the noise floor to dead digital black (0 dBFS), creating jarring 'popping' transitions and distracting background dips that become magnified during looping playback.

Actionable Fix:
1. Apply 2-frame to 4-frame equal-power audio crossfades (30–50ms) across all dialogue edit boundaries to eliminate digital clicking and noise floor jumps.
2. Lay down a continuous, loopable room-tone audio bed on an underlying audio track underneath the entire short clip at -45 dB to -55 dB.
3. Check the loop seam by playing the clip in a continuous loop in your editor to ensure the transition between final frame and frame zero is acoustically seamless.

Pro Tip:
Always record 30 seconds of clean room tone on location before interviews; having clean room tone allows you to seamlessly patch dialogue edit seams in post-production.
