Solution

Root Cause / Diagnostic:
Cascading brickwall limiters on already-mastered audio reduces dynamic range to near zero and generates severe inter-sample peaks (ISPs). When a pre-mastered track is limited a second time to force extra loudness, sample peaks reconstruct above 0 dBFS during lossy digital-to-analog conversion and AAC transcoding, introducing harsh digital crackling.

Actionable Fix:
1. Disable secondary brickwall limiters during social export if the master track has already been dynamically mastered.
2. Set True Peak limiting with oversampling enabled (4x or 8x oversampling) and set the True Peak ceiling to -1.5 dBTP to provide transcoding safety headroom.
3. Monitor the ITU-R BS.1770 True Peak meter to verify zero overs (+0.0 dBTP) across the entirety of the exported derivative audio file.

Pro Tip:
Loudness normalization algorithms on modern platforms penalize tracks louder than -14 LUFS by turning them down; pushing limiters harder provides zero volume benefit and destroys audio quality.
